Paranormal Case Study 20th Anniversary – “Testament” by Mark Russell Bell
“Testament” was published on January 9, 1997 and chronicles how Mark Russell Bell became a metaphysical author after previously having worked in the Hollywood entertainment industry as a movie publicity writer.
The book is available in a free Internet edition and begins with interviews of the Oklahoma family experiencing a gamut of strange occurrences centering on the ‘talking poltergeist’ known as ‘Michael.’ The family was seen in a 30-minute segment on the ABC special “Ghosts, Mediums, Psychics: Put To The Test” and on “20/20.”
Author Mark Russell Bell recalls about his first conversation with one of the family members: “Immediately there were many noticeable parallels between their experiences and those of the family chronicled in the 19th Century ‘Bell Witch’ talking poltergeist case in Tennessee.”
The “Testament” color photos of diverse anomalous phenomena—including ‘ghosts’ and apparitions, burned bushes, a bigfoot, and what the Oklahoma family believed to be aliens—were published in greater resolution in a 2015 series of articles at the blog “Metaphysical Articles: Interesting Articles, Links and Other Media” at http://metaphysicalarticles.blogspot.com.
When Bell returned from Oklahoma to Los Angeles, he was shocked to find the strange manifestations continuing to occur in his presence. Bell comments: “The unfortunate thing is that when people first hear about me and any description of what happened, they assume I must be deluded or whatever; however, the transcripts in the book are verbatim. I ask people to have an open mind until or unless they personally learn about the data concerning my case.
“One of the things I learned is that there are patterns interlinking famous documented cases of so-called ‘unexplained phenomena.’ For example, the ‘Michael’ pattern is associated with diverse paranormal cases, including Nostradamus, John Dee, Edgar Cayce, and the Fox Sisters connected with the Spiritualist Movement.”
After conducting more research and having further enlightening experiences, Bell published “Testament” to inform other people about the occurrences and enable them to vicariously expand their own spiritual and metaphysical awareness by placing themselves in Bell’s predicament.
“Readers of the autobiographical documentary-style case study discover that not all of my spontaneous deductions and impressions were initially correct yet after many lessons and years I developed a better understanding of our metaphysical Earth spiritual reality.
“Readers will find that the experiences documented in my book correlate with many of the messages of so-called ‘channeled’ transcendental communication. I found myself called upon to become an embodiment of some of these teachings.”
Recent posts at Bell’s blog report about cases of transcendental communication or ‘channeling,’ including commentary about the ‘New Age’ for humanity. Bell reflects: “Something that may be surprising to contemporary people first witnessing what has been termed ‘Deep Trance,’ “Overshadowing’ or ‘Total Takeover’ channeling is that these visitors from the ascended realm are not without a sense of humor.”
The Christmas article presented a “Links Index” of blog articles and videos about channeling cases. Among the 44 video links, ‘Seth’ may be seen speaking through Jane Roberts in a 1974 session and saying: “ . . . what you want to be is within you now and within your glowing creaturehood . . . You are blessed because of your being, not damned because of it. As I have told you often, there is a spiritual biology within your being and it speaks through each of your moments . . .”
An undated video clip shows Jach Pursel channeling ‘Lazaris,’ who is seen commenting: “. . . people look out there — they’re looking all over the place as [if] their God were somehow outside of them. It’s within. Every spiritual reference, be it fundamental or be it avant-garde speaks of that Spirit within . . . your task in this physical lifetime really isn’t to find God because God’s everywhere . . . your task in every physical incarnation is to find yourself.”
A 1992 video of British medium Gordon Higginson shows him during a channeling session when the message is given: “The Great Master that plans life knows the beatings of your heart, pulsating of your soul and the reason it is given to you to explore the bounds of living . . . I bring these words to you with love and ask that always you will realize the function of God in you . . . each day grow in humility and in divinity.”
One of the channeling videos shows a channeled entity in 1985 answering a national USA talkshow host’s question about what is the “most important message.” The channeled response includes: “. . . When know you that that which is termed ‘you are God,’ that that which emanates within you is divine, you will find joy.”
The first portion of the follow-up book to “Testament” was published on July 20, 1997 exclusively online.
Blog Encourages Readers to Develop Their Perspective of ‘Unexplained Phenomena’
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Metaphysical Articles blogger Mark Russell Bell is suggesting readers learn more about documented nonfiction cases encompassing ‘unexplained phenomena’ by reading articles at http://metaphysicalarticles.blogspot.com. He gained insights into paranormal phenomena in 1995 after investigating a contemporary ‘talking poltergeist’ case in rural Oklahoma as chronicled in the nonfiction case study, Testament (1997).
Bell commented about his blog: “These noncommercial articles are an educational resource for people who want to develop their perspective of events usually referred to categorically as ‘paranormal’ or ‘unexplained phenomena.’ At this time of year, commercial fantasies are marketed to a public conditioned to celebrate imaginary aspects of the contemporary holiday derived from All Hallows’ Eve.”
The current article at Bell’s “Interesting Articles, Links and Other Media” blog is “Links Between ‘Poltergeist’ Cases.” Other articles posted this year include “Trance Channeling in the 19th Century,” “Ascended Masters and the Sun” and “Esoteric Aspects of Edgar Cayce’s Life.”
Since 2009, Bell has been blogging about documented case studies encompassing ‘paranormal phenomena’ among other spiritual topics. Bell refers to his 1997 book as “a case study chronicling my unexpected spiritual awakening.” The author was a movie studio publicity writer with an interest in unexplained phenomena when he read a magazine article reporting about “America’s Talking Poltergeist.” Upon witnessing diverse phenomena, the author began noticing parallels with similar historical cases and has been able to define specific patterns. He realized the documented so-called ‘poltergeist’ interactions were angelic as they made possible an expanded consciousness of life.
In 1995 as Bell continued to find himself interacting with an unseen spiritual Force manifesting in symbolic and synchronistic ways, he continued conducting interviews. He found his professional background useful in gaining insights about reality and creativity. Born in Culver City, he majored in cinema at USC, worked as a talent agent, and then was a movie publicist for Paramount Pictures. Today he encourages people to reflect about their cultural programming and be aware of information sources that can help them live a life expressing and manifesting God’s love.
In one of his 2014 series of articles about the ongoing JZ Knight/Ramtha case, Bell wrote: “An individual’s understanding of life and ‘God’ must be based on one’s own experiences. Among the annals of unexplained phenomena, the transcendental communication offered by visitors from the ascended realm helps one to see beyond illusionary superstitions and dogmas to better comprehend the nature of one’s true home in the Mind and Being of ‘God’. The entity known as ‘Ramtha’ is representative of cases involving so-called ‘ascended masters’ who offer perspectives concerning this momentous reality.”

UFO Reporter/Contactee Arthur Shuttlewood is the Topic of New Blog Series
March 26, 2013 (MMD Newswire) — Los Angeles metaphysical author and blogger Mark Russell Bell is currently presenting at http://metaphysicalarticles.blogspot.com articles about the nonfiction books of UK reporter Arthur Shuttlewood (1920-1996) who wrote about his experiences involving UFOs and communication with “space visitors.” Bell has been blogging since April 2009 about documented case studies encompassing ‘paranormal phenomena’ among other spiritual topics.
Bell is identifying parallels that may be found between documented cases of transcendental communication/contact as he profiles Arthur Shuttlewood’s series of nonfiction books that commenced with The Warminster Mystery (1967). Last year, Bell’s blog featured a series of articles about the firsthand testimonials of 1950s flying saucer contactees Truman Bethurum, Daniel Fry and Orfeo Angelucci.
Each week at his blog, Bell analyzes events in the lives of people chronicled to have experienced so-called ‘unexplained phenomena,’ including H. P. Blavatsky, Edgar Cayce, John Dee, Joan of Arc, and Muhammad; along with such mediums and channelers as Rosemary Brown, Leslie Flint, Eileen Garrett, Doris Stokes and Chico Xavier.
Bell observed in his most recent article published on March 24: “The opportunity to understand the examples being shared will become clearer for readers who have considered case studies described in previous series of articles at this blog about ‘visitors from the ascended realm,’ ‘spiritual healing,’ ‘channeling,’ ‘flying saucer contactees,’ ‘Instrumental Transcommunication,’ Madame Blavatsky, the ‘Michael Pattern,’ Spiritualism and mediumship, and ‘Talking Poltergeist’ cases. The gamut of ‘paranormal phenomena’ considered by Shuttlewood show the futility of those clamoring for proof without first considering what aspects of reality are of greatest significance in discerning the meaning of the evidence.”
Bell comments, “Following the publication of Testament in 1997, I realized that for someone to be knowledgeable about creditable occurrences of unexplained phenomena, there is no substitute for reading autobiographies and other detailed nonfiction accounts documenting these cases. I profile these sources in articles at my blog. Shuttlewood is among the metaphysical authors whose experiences brought them a fundamental realization very much like the one I reached, myself, as he postulated a ‘Universal Force inseparable from all inhabited planets . . . an Army of Invisible Hosts.'”

‘Channeling’ is the Topic of Mark Russell Bell’s Latest Blog Series about ‘Paranormal Phenomena’
Los Angeles, California August 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Mark Russell Bell is offering his perspective of documented cases of channeling and ‘trance channeling’ / mediumship following two other series of blog articles with ‘paranormal’ subjects this year: the first being Madame Blavatsky and the second being 1950s flying saucer ‘contactees.’ One recent article was entitled “In Comparison: Pearl Curran, ‘Miss Beauchamp,’ John Dee and Edward Kelley.”
Bell comments, “In recent months the topic selected each week has been determined by what I think will be most illuminating for readers who have considered the variety of previous blog posts relating to cases of so-called ‘paranormal phenomena.'”
In 2011 and 2010, series of blog articles at http://metaphysicalarticles.blogspot.com included mediumship and Spiritualism, ‘The Michael Pattern,’ and ‘Talking Poltergeist’ cases. Sometimes parallels can be found between the various topics; for example, one source that Bell has extensively featured this year is the nonfiction book Flying Saucer Pilgrimage (1957) by Bryant and Helen Reeve. One of the Reeves’ interview subjects was channeler Mark Probert.
The July 8, 2012 article “Some Reflections about Channeling and the Creative Process” offered this observation: “The word ‘channel’ has long been synonymous with trance mediumship. In the ‘Prefatory Remarks’ to Biography of Mrs. J. Conant (1873) Allen Putnam wrote: ‘She has been the channel through which more than ten thousand different spirits have sent messages to their kindred and friends on earth.'”
In the article, Bell also reported that the first memoir of Daniel Dunglas Home, Incidents In My Life (1862), is supplemented by the book Experiences in Spiritualism with Mr. D. D. Home (1869) by Viscount Adare. The latter book offers descriptions of 78 seances. A January 2012 blog article includes commentary about the ‘channeled book’ Health: Its Recovery and Maintenance (1929) featuring 12 lectures delivered through trance medium Eileen Garrett. A January 2010 article presents ‘Channeled Perspectives of the Brain’ via Edgar Cayce and Eileen Garrett.
Last month, Bell reviewed a nonfiction book about Chico Xavier and observed, “Perhaps another way of expressing that Earth beings have a ‘shared subconscious mind’ is to state that all individual consciousness/personality units belong to a self-aware ‘All That Is’ — a highly moral force . . .”
Among the articles available at Bell’s “Interesting Articles, Links and Other Media” blog at http://metaphysicalarticles.blogspot.com are:

“Spiritualism” Blog Series of Articles Includes Photographs of Authentic Seance Materialization Phenomena
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Mark Russell Bell selected photographs for his “Spiritualism” blog series of articles at http://metaphysicalarticles.blogspot.com after researching the subject for a future book. The photos corroborate documented case histories.
Bell comments about the photos: “It is easy to understand that these photos document authentic so-called ‘paranormal’ phenomena if one studies the detailed accounts that explain the circumstances of the mediums in whose presence these occurrences took place. The photos were taken under controlled methods of investigation by researchers.”
Bell encourages media outlets to make use of his blog articles and photos. He commenced blogging with the goal of informing readers of noteworthy sources of information relating to spiritual and metaphysical subjects.
He observes, “For people interested in events usually categorized as ‘unexplained phenomena,’ it is more rewarding to read about authentic cases instead of wasting their time and money on mindless entertainment sensationalizing these subjects. My objective is to expand people’s awareness of life’s possibilities without any commercial incentive or content restrictions.”
Bell concludes in the culminating “Spiritualism” post at http://metaphysicalarticles.blogspot.com: “What Earth people have in common with those communicating from other realms is that each is an individual personality or ‘unit’ of a pervasive Cosmic Consciousness.”
More than sixteen years ago, Bell found himself confronted by the opportunity to investigate firsthand a case of unexplained phenomena described as “America’s Talking Poltergeist” in a 1995 magazine article. He contacted the family experiencing many strange occurrences and arranged an interview. This was the beginning of an astonishing sequence of events.
Bell became a metaphysical author with publication of the 1997 nonfiction case study Testament. Since 2004, he has been working on a new autobiographical book that includes his analysis of documented cases of unexplained phenomena.

Popularity of Paranormal Investigations Motivates Mark Russell Bell to Share Insights
The metaphysical author and blogger is offering pointers about what is important to remember concerning research into unexplained phenomena.
Los Angeles, California (PRWEB)
July 9, 2010 — Mark Russell Bell has shared his unusual experiences in a 1997 nonfiction case study and an Internet website. Now he is offering paranormal investigators some important insights.
Russell Bell blogs at http://metaphysicalarticles.
Bell reflects, “Many decades of popular supernatural horror films and novels have cultivated for some people a mind-set that craves the sensational and the frightful. You might say that fictional depictions of unexplained phenomena require a suspension of disbelief for entertainment purposes while encountering any such events in your own life requires careful analysis for understanding the meaning of what has happened.”
Bell’s 1,100-page book Testament derived from tape-recorded interview transcripts and journals to present a record of his responses to startling events at a time in his life when he had only a superficial knowledge of the variety of chronicled cases usually categorized as ‘paranormal.’ He comments, “In my youth, I’d read books about poltergeists and ufology without accepting anything as unquestionably valid. It was only after my experiences chronicled in Testament that I began to understand what manifestly was the basis for the phenomena.”
Here are some of Bell’s observations for investigators of unexplained phenomena.
1. Perceived instances of psychokinesis / telekinesis in relation to a specific individual should not be atributed to the individual alone but to an unseen intelligence manifesting in proximity to the person.
2. It is often the personal response of someone observing the phenomena that associates the experience with a particular word or familiar concepts such as ‘poltergeist,’ ‘demon,’ ‘angel,’ ‘spirit,’ or ‘alien.’
3. Paranormal investigators should consider how their ‘supernatural’ beliefs about ghosts and unexplained phenomena correlate with their entire metaphysical orientation that has evolved during the full course of their life experience.
4. Regarding anomalous occurrences involving mystics, psychics, mentalists, etc., consider the concept of a Superconsciousness manifesting through or around specific individuals to expand people’s spiritual awareness of what is possible. Eastern wisdom traditions offer words signifying ‘Oneness’ to remind that all living things are interconnected and each is linked with an all-creative Life Force.
5. I recommend you read my own book (available in a free Internet edition) as well as extensively documented cases of people who’ve experienced different forms of unexplained or ‘psychic’ phenomena during previous epochs. Some of these people include Dr. John Dee, Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, Edgar Cayce, and medium Leslie Flint.
6. Concerning legitimate trance channelers, the perspective of entities speaking through a person should be understood as being ‘more-knowing’ rather than ‘all-knowing.’ Each individual consciousness unit has a unique perspective based upon one’s own life experiences.
7. ‘Electronic Voice Phenomena’ (EVP) may be obtained anywhere with all varieties of recording devices. Listen closely to unedited radio or TV broadcasts / recordings and you may be surprised.

January 2009 is 12th Anniversary of Publication of Nonfiction Testament – Mark Russell Bell’s ‘New Consciousness Bible’ Has Readers Worldwide
LOS ANGELES, Calif., – (Marketwire – January 6, 2009) – Mark Russell Bell’s case study book Testament was first published twelve years ago in January 1997. A paperback edition is available and a free Internet edition may be read at https://testament.org
The book resulted after the author interviewed an Oklahoma family experiencing so-called ‘talking poltergeist’ phenomena in 1995. These Q&A transcripts became the first portion of Testament. The family was seen on television in the 1995 ABC special “Ghosts, Mediums, Psychics: Put To The Test” and this footage also aired in the summer of 1996 on “20/20.” Among the phenomena filmed for the special was a diningroom chair moved by an unseen presence.
Upon returning to Los Angeles from Oklahoma, the author continued having unexpected experiences while conducting further interviews. Interview participants included friends and acquaintances working in the Southern California entertainment industry. Bell found his professional background useful in gaining insights about consciousness and creativity. Born in Culver City, he majored in cinema at USC, worked as a talent agent and then as a studio publicist for Paramount Pictures before becoming a metaphysical author.
Another source of interviews for Bell’s book was the Philosophical Research Society in the Los Feliz district of Los Angeles. Founded by Manley Palmer Hall in 1934, the Society has a motto of “Honoring the Wisdom of All Traditions.”
Bell’s upcoming book is My Unexpected Path of Spiritual Discovery, an autobiographical account of his research that includes overviews of famous cases involving ‘paranormal phenomena.’ In his new book, Bell considers surprising evidence for a ‘Spiritual Force’ or ‘Oneness’/‘Superconsciousness.’ Bell suggests scientists err when interpreting findings under the assumption that such a Being as ‘God’ doesn’t exist when instead they should consider that familiar concepts of God are inadequate.

His nonfiction book Testament is available to be read online without charge. The book is a case study presented via question and answer interview transcripts, journals and photographs. Bell’s upcoming book is Hollyweird, an autobiographical account of the author’s unexpected yet revealing path of spiritual discovery. Before Bell became a metaphysical author, he worked in the entertainment industry as a publicity writer for Paramount Pictures.
The author interviewed an Oklahoma family experiencing ‘talking poltergeist’ phenomena in 1995 and published these transcripts in Testament. The family was seen on television in the 1995 ABC special “Ghosts, Mediums, Psychics: Put To The Test” and this footage also aired in 1996 on “20/20.”
Bell comments, “My experiences and research have shown me that all living things are continuously interacting with an intermediary Superconsciousness or Spiritual Force that may be recognized through circumstances often described as coincidences and synchronicity, intuition and telepathy, prophetic dreams and visions, mediumship and trance channeling, healing, as well as events associated with such expressions as ‘hauntings,’ ‘talking poltergeists’ and ‘electronic voice phenomena.’ This predicament might be articulated as all living things having a shared Subconscious Mind and ‘Thought Conductor.’ Such expressions as ‘Oneness’ and ‘Christ Consciousness’ are also useful.”
Testament was published in January 1997. The book’s ISBN is 0-9654916-0-9 and the Library of Congress Catalog number is 96-71184. The Internet edition of the book is available without charge at www.testament.org/. The Oracle Press edition is available at www.bn.com/
