BLACK & WHITE PHOTOGRAPH CAPTIONS

This photo of my father, Paul, age 22, was taken when he was in the air force, stationed in Puerto Rico. Although he was a talented tennis player, the sport then didn't offer the financial opportunities that it does today.
This photo of myself, my mother Ellen and our cat Pandora was taken when we lived on Del Rey Avenue in Pasadena. It was taken by my brother.
Dorothy Forsyth sent me this Russell family photograph of my great grandfather and his family: (from left) Arthur Isaiah, Cecil Allen, Henry Olin, Clara Belle, Paul Ray, William Verne, Georgia Anna and Joseph Duane Russell. This photo was possibly taken in Hadley in 1914 or 1915.

This photo of Doris Moseley with Indira Gandhi was taken around 1989 when Doris had the "mysterious" opportunity to work for the Indian government and ecumenical council as a librarian for two years without pay. She was 62 years old and was provided with free housing -- a hut. Doris had always wanted to work in some capacity helping others but had been turned down by the Peace Corps for being too old. She was first rejected for the job because she specified that she didn't belong to any church on her application and they wanted someone who "understood religion"; however, she was the only applicant who responded to the advertisement in a library journal.
This photograph of artist Mark Kostabi was taken by George Dubose.
Larry Garrison (left) and his songwriting partner, Frank Griffith, of the unsuccessful rockgroup GnG, were photographed in 1991 by J. R. Hall in a pedestrian tunnel under Cahuenga Boulevard in Hollywood.
Steve Cohen photographed this "kind of strange" formation usually covered by vegetation in Malibu at three p.m. on October 27, 1996 following an area fire that was said to have been started by a downed power line. This and similar patterns cover the floor of a single canyon off the Coast Highway. Steve speculates the formation could be due to crushed rock or sea shells and may be a Chumash Indians remnant. © Steve Cohen
